The Beautiful Chaos of Being a Mum & Business Owner

The Beautiful Chaos of Being a Mum & Business Owner

Running a business is no small feat — but doing it while raising a family? That’s next level.

As a mum of four, I know just how hectic life can be. Between school runs, meal times, bedtime routines, and everything in between, life is busy — and that's before I even open my laptop or switch on the machines. Our baby clothing brand is full-time work for both me and my husband, and while we’re so grateful for how far we’ve come, it’s not always easy behind the scenes.

People often say, “It must be amazing to work for yourself!” And don’t get me wrong — it is. We’ve built something from the ground up, and we’re proud to say our business now supports our family of six. We’re able to give our children a good life, be there for their milestones, and show them what hard work and passion can build.

But that doesn’t mean it’s always smooth sailing.

There are late nights, early mornings, and days that feel like they just don’t have enough hours. There’s the constant juggle between being present as a parent and staying on top of orders, emails, suppliers, and designs. There’s guilt — because even when you’re doing everything, it can still feel like it’s not enough. And let’s be honest — there are moments of total overwhelm, too.

But then there are the moments that remind you why you started.

The messages from happy customers. The joy of seeing your designs come to life. The way your kids smile when they say, “Mummy made that.” And the deep sense of pride in knowing that you’re not just building a business — you’re building a legacy, something your family can look back on with pride.

To all the other mums out there running businesses — whether it’s big or small, full-time or just starting out — I see you. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it. And sometimes, we just need to take a step back, breathe, and be proud of what we’ve built — both at home and at work.

You’re doing amazing.
